Import ICS File in New Outlook Thumbnail

Import an .ics File into New Outlook

New Outlook fully supports .ics calendar files, making it simple to import meetings, holidays, or event schedules shared from other apps. From my experience, sometime the ics file gets hidden behind open screens. Here’s the quickest way to import one and keep your schedule up to date.

Why It Matters

If you regularly receive event invites from Teams, Google Calendar, or other scheduling apps, .ics files make it easy to centralize all your events in New Outlook. Import once, and your calendar stays perfectly in sync across all devices.

Steps to Import an .ics File

1. Locate the .ics File

Find the .ics file you downloaded—typically saved in your Downloads folder.
💡 Tip: If someone emailed you the file, save it to your local drive first before importing.

2. Open Your New Outlook Calendar

Before you click on the .ics file, make sure your Outlook Calendar window is already open.
Otherwise, the import screen may appear behind other windows, making it easy to miss.

3. Click to Open

Double-click the .ics file. Outlook will launch the Import Calendar screen automatically.

4. Select Your Calendar

From the dropdown list, choose which calendar you want to import the event(s) into, such as your primary work calendar or a shared team calendar.

5. Import

Click Import to complete the process. Your events will appear instantly in the selected calendar view.
