Microsoft Teams Tags

Microsoft Teams Tagging

Are you TIRED OF typing each team member’s name in the Chat conversation pane? Well, WAIT NO MORE. Check out the @mentionTAG feature in Microsoft Teams. Now, both Team Owners and Members can create special membership tags.  Microsoft’s roll-out is March 2022.

What is a Tag or Label in Microsoft Teams?

This feature allows you to group members based on role, project, skill, or region if there is no existing Active Directory Distribution list. The tag serves as a unique or ad hoc group for Teams Channels and subchannels.

For example, let’s say you want to create a tag for the Project Leadership Team and a separate one for the “Project Worker Bees”. Now, you no longer have to input individual names, instead, use the @mentiontag in the Team chat or post. It is worth mentioning again, that use Tags when you don’t have an existing Active Directory distribution list or Team Channel or SubChannel Name that you can use with the @mention feature.
